Hello hello! So sorry for my blog absence! I will try to step it up this summer.
Today I just thought I would share a couple easy DIY while you watch TV summer projects. I am not a big DIY person but occasionally I get a decent enough idea and give it a go.
I was packing to go to a wedding last week and feeling blah about the summer jewellery I had lying around. I decided to try updating some basic bangles.
1. Any style will pretty much work. Wood, plastic, those cheap tin ones, whatever.

2. You will also need a glue gun and some topstitching or embroidery thread (not regular sewing thread, thicker style thread). Pick out 3 or 4 colors and mark out a scheme on the bangle (skip to the end of this post for some ideas). Glue the end of the thread to the inside of the bangle.

3. Wrap the thread around the bangle. I have seen these done by overlapping the threads and just going around and around, but don’t do that. It looks bad. hahaha. Obviously, the inside of the bangle is smaller that the outside so you have to overlap some of the threads on the inside, but keep the outside nice and smooth.

4. When you switch colors, cover the glue spot with the next color thread. And that’s it! Different shapes of bangles look fun done like this or do 3 matching widths in slight variations of 4 or 5 colors.

The second set will take no time at all to whip up:

This next one is a little bit more intense, but pretty easy too! I bought a few of plain-ish, inexpensive black heels for the Fall show that are sort of lying around the studio looking for fun. I was going to a very casual kids fundraiser and planning on wearing basic jeans and blouse. It was going to be a nice day and I wanted to add something bright! I have no bright shoes; I wouldn’t wear bright shoes very often but for a fun change, I made a pair of yellow shoes.
1. These shoes aren’t ever coming back to the original so pick a pair you don’t care about (Quick addition to the bangle post above, if you want to switch colors, the glue will just pick right off and you can do it again!)

2. You will need: spray paint. These are going to be 2 colors: yellow and silver. Also, a finishing gloss spray paint, a paint brush, Saran wrap, some tape. I started with the silver spray on the toe cap of these shoes.

2. Let the first coat dry for an hour then do a second coat. This needs to fully dry for 24 hours. Put the Saran wrap over the toe section and tape it to the bottom. This needs to be a very exact line. Also put some tape so the inside of the shoe so doesn’t get painted or don’t because I think it looks cool. Then spray it all yellow and wait and do the second coat. Don’t forget about the base and back of the heel.

3. If you have a shoe with a separate section that is too hard to cover with Saran wrap. Spray on your base then use a paint brush to paint the area.

4. Wait for half a day, apply the gloss spray and your good to go!

Thanks for following along, if you have any questions, I don’t mind. Have a good day!

Welcome back to my blog!
I’ve been busy! and not busy blogging, which is a shame because I kind of miss this thing.
It has been awhile since I did a sew along social and this should be a fun one! My good and gorgeous friend Christine Adela White will be taking the Miss Universe Canada stage soon and I am putting the final touches on a few things for her wardrobe.
